This is a great time for the garden, isn't it? Ours has been terrific this year, and right now it is attracting loads of butterflies (how do you get your cat to stop chasing butterflies......)
I can't stop thinking about the garden. It is wonderful. As for cats and butterflies? I can't help you there. Just hope they don't chase bees or wasps or something. Our kitties are indoor cats (for now) so we don't have that problem. One year my sister's cat chased and caught a beautiful Monarch butterfly that he didn't know what to do with after he'd caught it. He just sat there with one paw on it, pinning it to the ground. We thought it was dead, but once the cat lost interest it actually flew over the fence and away. I was amazed. I suppose if they travel all the way from Mexico they must be very strong.
