have a scary halloween
We use to decorate the house from top to bottom, dress up, play scary music. One year I even played Nosferatu in the front window. The kids had no idea what was going on at our house. We went for classic scary stuff and not the wal-mart packaged dancing skeletons with piped in cheesy monster music. We weren't flashy, but we were spooky.
So this year in our little side suite where no kids seem to venture, I've got nothing. I've got clif bars in case some kid can't find the front door of the house and accidentally rings our bell. This is unlikely to happen. My plan is to watch a horror film and call it a night. Now which one to watch...

We only got one person come-a-calling unexpectedly last night. As we had decided NOT to open the door to anyone, we will never know whether it was a trick-or-treater or someone to tell us that our car was being vandalized or something. The car is fine this morning, so I assume it was some bastard child looking for candy.
What film did you watch in the end? We went for Hostel, which was gory, but not scary.
I pulled out Gothic, a dvd I have that I've never watched and then saw that Psycho was on t.v. So I got out my copy of Psycho. With all the laughable dialogue, it is still suspenseful (not scary) and incredibly shot.
No kids came to our door. We're too far off the beaten path. Our landlords got one kid and brought us the rest of the candy. We think the long climb up the hill and flight of stairs up to the house is too much for any sensible sugar-driven kid.
I still can't do horror flicks. Remember how I had a hard time sitting through Scream that time we went to Cinecenta to see it? And The Blair Witch Project scarred me for life!
Isn't that funny that when you saw Scream you couldn't watch and when I saw it, it led me in a new direction in my studies.
