Toronto Humane Society President Speaks Out About Allegations - CityNews

I am absolutely horrified by this news. This is exactly why we need strong animal cruelty laws so animals can be protected from such abusers.

I think it's a good time to remember this quote from Gandhi, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

We've got a long way to go, but I believe we're on the right road when we can recognize the acts taken by the Toronto Humane Society as criminal.

This is very disturbing. The THS people are saying they did nothing wrong, but some of the photos that have been published along with some news reports about things like a mumified cat found in a live trap are telling a grizzly story.

Oh, mother of god. I was going to call you, but knew you'd have seen it in the news. I am appalled. It is so sad! I guess it all started when the new president came in a few years ago? Was it 2005, or 2006? Jesus, I read one report, and cannot understand HOW it got into that state!!! Who can we trust???
Sis.

The Ontario SPCA is the organization we CAN trust. I remember when they built their new digs, and how hard they were working to provide care and shelter for all animals brought there.

I had heard from volunteer friends at THS over the recent years that Tim Trow was a disaster- and all of my friends subsequently relinquished their volunteer duties; I"m horrified but unfortunately not in the least bit surprised. It's maddening, heart breaking and inconceivable but again, it's the difference between welfare and rights- the board needs to be dumped and new management needs to be brought in.
