This is a picture of Rupert I posted on my blog in '06. He was part of my sister's cats that I refer to as the "cast of characters." I got to spend a lot of time with the cast and Rupert when we all lived together on Margueretta. While it was often difficult to tell what the others needed, I could always tell what Rupert needed. He loved the love. In this photo above he's got that look on his face that anticipates the patting that will be coming his way.
He was very ill this summer and yesterday my sister took him to the vet one last time because he wasn't getting better despite her and his best efforts.
I'm so glad I got to see him earlier this month. My sister has been taking such great care of him and Rupert was loving having her all to himself most of the time.
He was so young and that's what makes it all the harder. He was such a sweet and gentle guy. He had FIV so any time he got ill it would take him that much longer to recover, but this time he just couldn't and he couldn't eat.
I can't believe he won't be with us anymore. I miss him. My sister sent some beautiful photos that I'll share here. He was pretty sick in some of the photos. He had a feed tube in that was protected with some bandages around his body. He was definitely weaker, but he had lots of good moments with my sister where I'm sure he felt like himself.

Farewell Rupert. You were much loved and were one of the sweetest cats I've ever known.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about Rupert. You had posted about him before. I'm so glad he had such loving people to take care of him and to make the tough decisions at the end.

Like the others, I'm sorry to hear that he's gone. Many other humans would have given up on him long ago and put him down. Instead your sister choose to show him how much she loved him and tried to help him as best she good. Kudos to your sister and I'm sure that Rupert appreciated the love she gave him.

Your post was so touching, I got teared up reading it.

He was well loved. I'm grieving him like one of my own cats. i suppose it's because i spent so much time with him and looking after him when we lived together.

I know...I adored Rupert. I miss him too; he was such a great big ol' love ball. I remember before he was neutered and out on the balcony, he had those huge jowels and flat ears...and how quickly he settled into lazing around on comfy couches and overstuffed armchairs. He was a special guy, to be sure.

Thanks everyone. I am healing slowly, giving love to the other 3 kitties as best I can.
Rupert was a bright, shining ball of love.

So sorry to hear about Rupert passing. I haven't been around Blogland much (make that "at all") and I'm sad to be coming back to your blog to such bad news. Still, at least Rupert had a good life, with a warm bed (love that picture of him under the duvet) and lots of cuddles. FIV is a bitch for sure...

I'm coming in late on this, but as a fellow cat lover, I had to leave a comment. He looks very content, even in the pictures where he is sick, so he knew he was loved and adored, as a cat should be! You guys took good care of him.
